THE CANTEEN

The Canteen at VFW Post 1160 is more than a local watering hole; it's where members, veterans, and community members can come together.

Our closing hours can sometimes vary, but we open regularly at 2 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 1 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

We have something going on for everyone.  Check out our events calendar here.

Here's what you can expect:

1.    Atmosphere: The canteen, or bar, exudes a warm and welcoming ambiance. It's a cozy spot where veterans, their families, and friends gather. You’ll notice a sense of camaraderie and respect among the patrons, who share a common bond through their service or support for those who have served.

2.    Decor: The walls are adorned with military memorabilia, including flags, medals, photos, and plaques that honor our nation's heroes and commemorate significant events in military history. This decor adds a personal touch and reflects the pride and honor associated with military service.

3.    Bar Area: The bar is well-stocked with various beverages, from draft beers and bottled drinks to a selection of spirits and non-alcoholic options. The bar staff is friendly and attentive, often knowing many of the regulars by name.

4.    Seating: Comfortable seating is available around the bar and at tables throughout the canteen. Whether you prefer to sit at the bar and chat with the bartender or find a table to relax with friends, there’s a spot for everyone.

5.    Entertainment: Depending on the night, you might find different forms of entertainment, such as live music, karaoke, trivia nights, or televised sports games. There’s also often a jukebox filled with a mix of classic and contemporary hits.

6.    Events: The canteen hosts various events, from fundraisers and community gatherings to holiday celebrations and special commemorations. These events help foster a strong sense of community and support among members.

7.    Food: While offerings can vary, the Canteen does provide bar snacks, appetizers, or even full meals on certain nights. The food is often carefully prepared and provides a hearty and satisfying complement to your drink.

8.    Community: Above all, the canteen is a place of community and support. It is a social hub where veterans and their loved ones can share stories, offer support, and enjoy each other’s company in a relaxed and respectful environment.

Feel free to make yourself at home, and don’t hesitate to strike up a conversation—everyone here understands the value of camaraderie and fellowship. Enjoy your time at the canteen!
